Desert Art Dialog

noreen lawlor

Artist Noreen Lawlor paints and sculpts desert landscapes and the creatures who inhabit them, including humans. She works in various mediums (watercolor, etching, acrylic, cold wax, sculpture) and frequently produces the same image in several different mediums. She states, “I like to see which best connects the feeling inherent in the place or face. I like to play and let the thing kind of create itself through me. Sometimes, I get lucky and get to show some rocky terrain or the eyes of a bobcat so you see a bit of its spirit.”

Lawlor is also a poet and has published several books combining poetry and painting. She has participated in the Hwy 62 Art Tours, the Palm Springs Art Museum Members Show, and the Joshua Tree National Park Juried Show.
She has BA and MA degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and has attended art programs including at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts
